Campbell Jazz Ensemble to perform
The Campbell University
Jazz Ensemble concert will feature music from the Blues and Swing eras Monday,
November 21, at 8 pm., in Scott Concert Hall of the Rogers Fine Arts Center.
Admission is free and open to the public. The concert also features an
appearance by university choral group, the Campbell Voices.
“I think the audience will really enjoy the concert,”
said Jazz Ensemble director Jeremiah Miller. “The program combines a variety of
styles from instrumental to vocal jazz pieces and spotlights the work of some of
jazz’s greatest composers.”
Included in the concert program are works by
contemporary composers,Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins, and time honored classics
like “Bye, Bye Blackbird,” and “Here’s that Rainy Day Again.”
Composed of 11 student musicians, Miller said the Jazz
Ensemble continues to grow each year. “We’re playing lots of different styles
and a wider range of music,” he said.
