Fidelity Bank makes major gift to Campbell
University
Fidelity Bank recently
donated $100,000 toward the construction of Campbell University’s John W. Pope
Jr. Convocation Center. Kevin Umstead, senior vice president and regional
supervisor for Fidelity, and Jeff Easley, Fidelity’s senior vice president and
chief credit officer, recently presented a check to Campbell President Jerry M.
Wallace.
Founded in 1909, Fidelity Bank is a full-service $1
billion financial institution headquartered in Fuquay-Varina, N.C. The bank owns
and operates 65 branches in 21 counties throughout North Carolina and Virginia.
“Campbell University is deeply grateful for this
generous contribution,” said Wallace. “The John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center
will be a wonderful athletic and cultural resource for Harnett County and
Eastern North Carolina.”
The $30 million center will contain 3,000 fixed seats
with a seating capacity of up to 5,000 and house an additional practice floor
for basketball and volleyball, a wrestling room and an athletics Hall of Fame.
It will also contain a 6,000 square-foot fitness center.
Billy Woodard, chairman and CEO of Fidelity Bank, said
Campbell is a boon to Harnett County.
“Campbell University is the heart of economic activity
in Harnett County. The continued expansion of Campbell’s physical facilities
will not only assure the university growth, but provide economic stimulus to
Harnett County’s economy,” he said.
Woodard is a member of Campbell’s Presidential Board of
Advisors.
