Royster named Distinguished Government, History and
Justice Alum
Joshua Bryan Royster of Raleigh, N.C., has been named a Distinguished Alumnus of
Campbell University’s Government, History and Justice Department. Royster
received the award at the Homecoming celebration on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Since graduating summa cum laude from Campbell in 1997
and earning a law degree from the University of North Carolina, Royster served
as an executive assistant to the chief of staff for U.S. Senator Jesse Helms and
as an associate specializing in commercial litigation at the firm of Maupin
Taylor, P.A., in Raleigh. Royster is currently an assistant United States
attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
While at Campbell Royster received several honors,
including the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award for outstanding graduate in his
class. He also served as student body president and president of his sophomore
and junior classes. In addition, Royster was selected to attend the Student
Conference on United States Foreign Affairs at West Point in New York.
Recently, Royster served as campaign manager and
treasurer for the Paul Martin Newby for Supreme Court campaign. He and his wife
Heather are active members of Providence Baptist Church.
