Kenya Davis-Hayes named Distinguished Government,
History and Justice Alum
Dr. Kenya Davis-Hayes has been named a Distinguished Alumna of Campbell
University’s Department of Government, History and Justice. Hayes received the
award at the Homecoming celebration on Saturday, Oct. 22.
An assistant professor of history at California Baptist
University in Riverside, Hayes also served as a visiting instructor at Wabash
College in Crawfordsville, In., and at Campbell University.
Hayes received a bachelor’s degree in education with a
concentration in American history in 1998 and went on to earn a Master of
Education in curriculum and instruction in secondary social studies education
from Campbell in 2000. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in American Studies and
history from Purdue University in 2005.
Hayes has been an invited lecturer at numerous events
and her research has been published in books on history and cultural
development. In 2001, she received the Purdue University Literary Award in
Children’s Literature for her book, “Little E and the Red-Hatted Man.”
