Colston Named pastor emeritus of Central Baptist
Church
The Reverend Raymond Otis Colston of Lillington, N.C., was named pastor emeritus
of Central Baptist Church in Norfolk, Va.
Colston is a member of the Campbell University Board of
Ministers, an advisory and participatory group that provides insight and
assistance in the fulfillment of the university’s mission to provide Christian
higher education.
“It is my sincere desire to continue to devote my life
to the ministry of the Word and to live my life in a way that will bring honor
to my Lord,” Colston said at his installation.
A Campbell alumnus, Colston graduated with an Associate
of Arts degree in 1949 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English and
education from Wake Forest College in 1952. He has since earned a Master of
Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
A retired pastor, Colston served as moderator of
several Baptist associations. He is actively involved with many civic
organizations such as the Jaycees, Civitan and Lions clubs.
He is married to the former Mary Dolores Smith. They
are the parents of three children. They also have five grandchildren.
