Moore examines Supreme Court decision on seizure of
private property
Should government be
allowed to seize private property for the purpose of economic development? Dr.
Adrian Moore, vice president of Research for the Reason Foundation, will discuss
the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court decision, Kelo vs. City of New London,
at the second Politics, Law and Economics Lecture sponsored by Campbell
University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. The lecture will be held on
Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 147 of the business building.
Moore oversees policy research for the Reason
Foundation and conducts his own research on topics such as privatization,
government and regulatory reform, air quality, transportation, urban growth,
prisons and utilities. He earned a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in economics from
the University of California at Irvine and holds a master’s degree in history
from California State University in Chico.
Moore will discuss the common conception regarding
economic development held by local governments, and how it may lead them to
seize private property for development.
Sponsored by the Lundy Chair of Philosophy of Business
and the Adam Smith Club, the lecture is free and open to the public. There will
be a reception following the lecture.
Please RSVP by Oct. 17 to Kristi Stratton at (910)
