Meditation area dedicated to associate dean
Dr. Shahriar Mostashari and his family were recognized Thursday, Oct. 6, at the
dedication of the Thomas H. Folwell, Jr. Memorial Fountain at Campbell
University. Mostashari currently serves as associate dean of the Lundy-Fetterman
School of Business and director of the Master of Business Administration
program. The Shahriar Mostashari Family Meditation Area, adjacent to the
fountain, was dedicated in his honor.
A native of Tehran, Iran, Mostashari came to Campbell
in 1988 as a professor in the School of Business and quickly moved up to
chairman of the department of Business and Economics. He was twice tapped to
serve as acting dean of the school.
Known for his charismatic personality and ability to
mobilize student fundraising initiatives for Campbell, Mostashari has been
instrumental in raising over $250,000 for projects such as the construction of
the $12 million Lundy-Fetterman School of Business building and the Folwell
Fountain. He has also demonstrated his support through personal donations and
the establishment of a scholarship to benefit students who are pursuing a degree
in business administration and economics.
“My family and I are deeply grateful for this
opportunity,” said Mostashari. “I am proud to be included in the distinguished
company of Dean Thomas Folwell and Mrs. Ester Holder Howard.”
Architect Grover Meetze, founder of the College and
University Design Division of Little & Associates architectural firm in
Charlotte, designed the Folwell Fountain and Millennium Mall, an area connecting
the business and fine arts buildings to main campus. The fountain and the Purvis
Garden are the mall’s main features.
