Campbell named to national list of 100 Best College
Buys
Campbell was the only
private university in North Carolina to be named one of the “100 Best College
Buys” in the nation by Institutional Research & Evaluation, Inc., an independent
research and consulting organization.
Each year, Institutional Research & Evaluation
identifies the 100 American colleges and universities that provide students the
highest quality education at the lowest cost. These institutions are included
solely on the basis of merit. Other North Carolina schools that made the list
are Appalachian State University, North Carolina School of the Arts, North
Carolina State and the University of North Carolina at Asheville, Chapel Hill
and Wilmington.
To be designated one of America’s 100 Best College Buys, an
institution must be an accredited, four-year school, offer full residential
facilities and have an incoming freshman class in fall 2004 with a high school
grade point average or SAT/ACT score equal to or above the national average. The
school must also have an out-of-state cost of attendance in 2005-2006 for three
quarters or two semesters below the national average cost of attendance or not
exceeding the national average by more than 10 percent.
“The challenge of balancing quality and cost is a
responsibility our governing board and executive administration take very
seriously,” said Dr. Jerry M. Wallace, president of Campbell University. “We at
Campbell are committed to building an exemplary institution of Christian higher
learning and, at the same time, insuring that our students are receiving the
highest quality education at the lowest possible cost.
In addition, Campbell is fortunate to have an excellent
program of endowed scholarships, Wallace pointed out. These scholarship awards
enable the university to provide additional resources which further reduce cost.
The 100 Best College Buys designation is based on a
national survey conducted by the institution in which 1,044 American colleges
and universities participated. The survey is in its 15th year.
Located in Buies Creek, N.C., Campbell University is a
