Annual PGMSA Golf Tournament Raises Scholarship Dollars
Campbell University’s 4th annual Professional Golf Management Golf Tournament
raised $2,700 for the Louis W. (Bobby) Powell Golf Management Scholarship Fund.
The tournament, a two-person scramble, was held Monday, November 1, at Keith
Hills Country Club in Lillington, NC, with a total of 54 players competing.
The team of PGA Life Member Reid Schronce of Wilmington, NC, and Bern
Coulther, of the East Coast Golf School of Wilmington, fired a round of 61 to
win the Professional Division by one shot over two other teams. The team of
Aaron Abeles, of Warren, NJ, and Luke Lovell, of Danville, KY, won the PGM
Student Division, shooting a 62. James Harris and Darrell Fowler won the
Nicklaus Flight by four shots with a tournament low score of 60. The Hogan
Flight competition was won by one shot as Tom Lanier and Ray Womble fired a
score of 67. A total of 20 sponsors contributed to the event. Preparations are
already underway for the 16th annual PGMSA Scramble & “Pignic” scheduled for
April 22.
Developed from Campbell’s first Department of Business, established in 1893,
the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business was formally established in 1983. It
offers undergraduate degrees in business administration, accounting, trust
management, computer information systems, economics, international business, and
golf management, as well as a Master of Business Administration and a Master of
Trust and Investment Management. Reporting an enrollment of over 1,000 students,
the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business is one of only 14 schools in the nation
to have a golf management program approved by the PGA and the only school in the
nation to offer Trust and Investment Management degree programs.
