The 30th Annual Conference of the Graduate Research Association of Students in Pharmacy (GRASP) hosted by the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, June 4 – 6, was a major success for the university and the city of Raleigh. Approximately ninety participants from nine different pharmacy schools along the East Coast (from Massachusetts to Florida) met all day long on Saturday, June 5, at the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law to present state-of-the-art research findings in the areas of drug development and dosage form design. A number of faculty and local pharmaceutical industry executives attended to support and contribute to this annual meeting sponsored by the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). Lodging and meals were provided at the nearby Clarion Hotel with a Saturday evening social function at the Raleigh IMAX Theater. Following the closing session in Raleigh participants travelled by bus to Buies Creek for a tour of our nationally-recognized Campbell University Pharmaceutical Sciences Institute (CUPSI founded in 2001). Travelers were treated to a visit at “Sunny Skies” ice cream parlor on the way back to RDU airport. Dr. Chris Breivogel, faculty advisor, and Mr. Pavan Puligujja, chair of the student organizing committee, deserve special recognition for their efforts in organizing this meeting. Deans Ronald Maddox and Melissa Essary deserve credit for their generous support of this regional student research conference.
