Hundreds participate in Senior Fest at Campbell

Hundreds of senior adults braved the inclement weather on Thurs., March10 to participate in the 2011 Senior Fest at Campbell University.  The event is an annual event co-sponsored by the North Carolina Baptist Foundation and the Campbell University Divinity School.

Participants were treated to a concert and gospel sing-a-long’s as well as presentations designed for senior adults, including a devotional by Campbell University Divinity School dean Andy Wakefield, “Scams Targeting Senior Adults” by Nimasheena Burns, an outreach specialist for the North Carolina Department of Justice, “Going Green with Your Gold: Christian Ministry Beyond Your Lifetime” by the North Carolina Baptist Foundation and “Living Intentionally” by Phyllis Elvington, a speaker and writer from Green Sea, S.C.

“What a blessing it was to celebrate Senior Fest with over 400 senior adults. We enjoyed a wonderful time of worship, learning, fellowship, food, and fun,” said Wakefield. “This event is a great example of the service that Campbell seeks to provide to our churches across our state.”

Established in 1996, the Divinity School continues its founding vision to prepare God-called men and women to be Christ-center, Bible-based, and Ministry-focused.  The Divinity School provides excellent programs in academic studies, professional leadership skills and spiritual growth.
