I feel, even though I am posting 2 years later, that this article deserves a comment/post from someone who acknowledges and realizes the tremendous impact Dr. Cogdill made and is making at Campbell University, especially within the Divinity School.
Dr. Cogdill cares about Jesus Christ passionately, and that shows up in the way he cares about people. There is no question that his walk with the Lord cannot be detached from his desire to see the vision of CUDS become a reality. Along with Dr. Powers and others, Alumni for the past 17 years and counting are supremely grateful for our treks to Buies Creek to meet with the Spirit of the living God in class, Chapel, fellowship, and prayer. I thank God that for 4 years God allowed me to travel from Winston-Salem to the Creek to meet Jesus and understand my call.
The Div. school is blessed to have Dr. Wakefield’s leadership and we are excited about the future for those students who follow the Call. What started out as a piece of paper and a dream continues to bless churches and ministries around the world because of God’s blessing on theological education at Campbell University. I am beyond proud to know Dr. Cogdill will always be part of that story.
There was only one comment/post here, and the comment made was definitely a spam post about digestive problems. In my mind, this great article about Dr. Cogdill’s final commencement speech as Dean deserves a dignified and respectful response. No words can say thank you to God for what I received during my time at CUDS (2003-2006) but I am forever grateful.
“Love the Lord with your mind…” May I always remember that Christ desires for us to do that.
And that reminder from Dr. Cogdill to do just that will stay with me for the rest of my ministry, which will be the rest of my life!
Thank you, Dr. Cogdill, for giving of yourself to Campbell and the Div. School. And thanks for being a friend.
Your son Jason is surely a chip off the ol block
. Because of our friendship, I know you!
