Hamlet, N.C. -- Dr. William Dale McInnis of Ellerbe (’91) will be inaugurated as president of Richmond Community College on Sept. 21. A member of Phi Kappa Phi, he earned a doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Community College Leadership from North Carolina State University in 2002. He earned his master of Business Administration from Campbell University in 1991 and his bachelor of Business Management from UNC-Pembroke in 1988.
A native of Richmond County, Dr. McInnis began his community college career in 1992 as lead instructor for business administration with Montgomery Community College. He soon entered college administration, accepting the position of Vice President of Administrative Services there in 1993. In 2001, he accepted the position of Vice President of Administrative Services at South Piedmont.
He joined RCC in 2002 as Vice President for Administration and was later promoted to Executive Vice President. While in those positions, he oversaw construction of two major facilities and managed the financial and physical plant resources for the community college’s main campus and two off-campus sites.
Dr. McInnis has served on several state legislative review and development committees. He was president of the North Carolina Association of Community College Business Officers in 2006 and represented North Carolina community colleges in the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers. He serves on the Chamber of Commerce Boards in Richmond and Scotland Counties, the Richmond County United Way, the Richmond County Partnership for Children, and is active in other community and church organizations.
