Campbell University student named to National Entrepreneur Honor Roll

Buies Creek, N.C.—Campbell University junior, Michael Savage, has been named to the National Honor Roll of American Entrepreneurs. Savage is the owner and inspiration behind the Lillington technology firm Red Metal Box.

The Honor Roll is sponsored by the national business organization the Consortium of American Entrepreneurs.

Savage was nominated for the honor by NC REAL Enterprises and Hop on the Bus! High School Business Plan Competition Committee, an organization created by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction to encourage young entrepreneurs through competitions and other opportunities. Savage took home second place winnings in an entrepreneurial competition three years ago for his business plan for Red Metal Box.

“It’s nice to be honored for a business you’ve created,” said Savage. “It’s really nice to know that your ideas have made an impact on people.”

Savage started Red Metal Box when he was just 16 years old. At that time, the business focused on building and developing web sites for local businesses. Four years later, the firm has shifted more towards mobile development with a focus on building mobile applications for products such as Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch.

“Michael is always pursuing new business ideas that will help change and innovate other industries as well as the one he is in currently,” wrote the Consortium in Savage’s Honor Roll biography.

Savage, who is majoring in Business Administration at Campbell, is expected to graduate in 2012.

Awesome job Michael! Way to stay ahead of the curve!
