I was the cartoonist for the Creek Pebbles. The newspaper’s name changed to the Campbell Times my senior year. They shouldn’t have ever changed the name.
I was kicked off the paper for drawing cartoons about President Norman Wiggins’ bid to run for governor.
There was a witch hunt led by now President Jerry Wiggins to fire faculty members who gave me the inside scoop on pressure being put on staff and faculty to contribute to Wiggin’s campaign.
Their are still members of the faculty who probably remember this event…around 1982.
Congratulations on your awards,
Jay Lamm
