Dr. Larry Swanson, chairman of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Campbell University, announced the release of the seventh editions of the Comprehensive Pharmacy Review materials which includes the main book, Comprehensive Pharmacy Review, Comprehensive Pharmacy Review Practice Exams and Comprehensive Pharmacy Review NAPLEX Preparation CD-ROM published by Wolters Kluwer/Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. These materials prepare students for the national and state pharmacy board exams.
Swanson served as one of four editors of these materials along with Dr. Leon Shargel of Applied Biopharmaceutics, Dr. Alan Mutnick with Catholic Healthcare Partners, and Mr. Paul Souney with Prism Pharmaceuticals.
"These books have been well received by pharmacy students and viewed as quite helpful for their final preparation for the national and state pharmacy boards," Swanson said. "We now have a proven track record with these review books extending over 20 years when we published the first edition of Comprehensive Pharmacy Review. A large percentage of pharmacy graduates throughout the nation use these materials."
Data from an article published in the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education in 2006, which summarized results from surveys of recent pharmacy school graduates regarding what review materials they would recommend, noted that the Comprehensive Pharmacy Review materials were ranked highest for preparation usefulness among other review materials:
Preparation Usefulness:1.Comprehensive Pharmacy Review, by Lippincott, William & Wilkins2. Dr. Thomas Wilson's pharmacy law review session 3. Kaplan NAPLEX Review4.Pre-NAPLEX examination5.APhA's Complete Review for Pharmacy6.Appleton & Lange's Review of Pharmacy
Several members of the Campbell faculty also contributed to these new editions, including Drs. Connie Barnes, James Boyd, Robert Cisneros, Valerie Clinard, Jay Groce, Byron May, Roy Pleasants, Jennifer Smith and Tina Thornhill.
