Buies Creek, N.C.-The Campbell University Athletic Training Club will host the 5th annual Jennifer Lynne Webb Memorial 5K Run on Saturday, March 20. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center. Everyone is welcome to participate. Registration fees are $25 for those registering the day of the race. Children under 12 may participate for a fee of $10.

A graduate of Ohio University, Jennifer Lynne Webb came to Campbell in the fall of 1999 as a graduate assistant and certified athletic trainer. She worked with the women's soccer, baseball and cheerleading teams. Tragically, she was killed in an automobile accident on Sunday April 30, 2000. She was a graduate student in the School of Education at the time of her death. While at Campbell, Webb developed a reputation for passion and integrity, leading her parents to establish a scholarship in her honor to be awarded to an upper class student who embodies the same qualities that Webb displayed. Each year the Campbell Athletic Training Club hosts the 5K run in her honor. The funds raised provide Athletic Training Club members financial assistance for professional development opportunities such as a recent trip to Washington DC for Capitol Hill Day, State/District/National conference registration and travel. Webb's mother Cleo Webb attends the race and keeps in close contact with the Athletic Training students.

"The colleagues I know who worked with Jennifer Webb tell me that she is the kind of athletic trainer I want all of my students to be," said program director Catherine Simonson. "She did it right. If there is one thing I want my students to come away with it's the kind of spirit and vitality that Jennifer Webb exhibited."

Awards will be presented at a ceremony following the race. D.J. Gary Brown will provide music before and after the event and those who participate are eligible to win a variety of door prizes from local vendors.
