About Us

Chris O’Connor is the Director of Student Activities at Campbell University.  His office is located on the bottom floor of Baldwin Hall.  He can be reached at (910) 893-1554 or by email at [email protected]. Chris came to Campbell University after completing his Masters in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Student Affairs at North Carolina State University in 2006. Originally from Charlotte, NC, Chris attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in History and Communications Studies. Chris has worked in a variety of student affairs settings including The Center for Academic Integrity at Duke University and Carmichael Gymnasium at N.C. State. Aside from overseeing the operation of the Wallace Student Center, his responsibilities include advising the Campus Activities Board and Inter-Organizational Council, working with the Student Government Association, and overseeing the International Student Services program. Chris is currently working on his PhD in Higher Educaution Administration at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and enjoys playing disc golf, travelling, and spending time with his wife, son, and daugher.

Cameron began her higher education journey at UNC-Wilmington and graduated with a degree in English. She then decided to pursue her passion for working with students at the University of South Carolina in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Graduate Program. Cameron has experience in University Housing at the University of South Carolina and in the Student Activities Office at East Carolina University. Cameron advises the Campus Activities Board at Campbell and is passionate about Harry Potter, Shag Dancing, and spending time with her family

Cassie Hughes Thomas is the Assistant Director of Greek Life and Student Leadership and is responsible for providing leadership, direction and advising to the University’s Greek organizations. Cassie attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she graduated in 2010 with a degree in Dance Education. It was at UNC- Charlotte that Cassie fell in love with Greek Life.  She attended Appalachian State University to pursue her passion for higher education and graduated with her Master’s Degree in College Student Development in May of 2015. During her time in her graduate program, she was the Graduate Assistant for Fraternity and Sorority Life and served as New Member Advisor for her sorority’s chapter. She continues to be very involved with her local alumnae chapter and still currently serves as New Member Advisor. Cassie also has experience in other areas of student life such as Housing and Residence Life and Student Activities.  In her free time, Cassie enjoys spending time with her husband, friends, and family. She also enjoys playing fetch with her four legged best friend Layla and doing hot yoga. Her office is located on the bottom floor of Baldwin Hall in office 003. Mason Simpson is the Student Activities Graduate Assistant for Student Government and Student Organizations.  Mason is also responsible for overseeing student clubs and organizations and SGA. Mason is a 4 + 1 MBA student in the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business; his Bachelor’s degree is in Healthcare Management. He is a founding father of the Phi Delta Theta chapter here at Campbell University, where he has served the organization in many leadership roles. Mason is also very active in the Campbell University Band program, where he is a member of the Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, and Athletic Bands. Rebecca Auten is the International Student Services graduate assistant. She is responsible for programming, advising, and leadership to undergraduate and graduate international students at the University. J. Deaver is the Student Activities Graduate Assistant for Student Programming.  J is responsible for overseeing events on and off campus with various organizations including CAB, SGA, Greek Life, and IOC Student Organizations.  J is a 4 + 1 MBA student in the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business; his undergrad degree is a double major in Trust & Wealth Management and Economics, with a minor in Financial Planning. J has spent a year and a half in the Student Government Association in various roles, and spent the last two years in Campus Activities Board as the executive treasurer. J has also spent time as a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and as a Business School Mentor. In his free time, J enjoys grilling, adventuring, and playing or watching sports; J is a proud intramural basketball champion.
