Love Thy Neighbor
In an effort to ease the transition of new students and build early connections to the Campbell University mission and culture, the Offices of Campus Ministry and the First-Year Experience will sponsor a common service initiative for all entering first-year students. Shared experiences are a valuable way to build unity among new students and provide a vehicle through which students can interact with faculty and staff in an informal, out-of-classroom, experience. This initiative aims to strengthen the Campbell University community as it invites students, faculty, staff and administrators to participate in a unifying experience, directed at benefiting our local community.
On Sunday, August 18, 2013, the entire freshman class will participate in the Love Thy Neighbor event. This year’s projects are directed at making available resources for underprivileged population, through four unique projects:
- Weekend food bags for Buddy Backpack of Harnett County
- School supply bags for Harnett County children
- Hygiene bags for the homeless
How Can I Help?
Families who attend orientation sessions during the summer are encouraged to bring items that will be used for the Love Thy Neighbor projects. Love Thy Neighbor collection bins may be found in locations across campus during the weekend of both orientations (June 28-30 & July 12-14).
You may find a list of the items needed by clicking on the individual projects below. We encourage every family to make a contribution of 3-5 items from the list provided here.
