Fitness Classes

Get fit, involved, and moving! Campus Rec offers a variety classes a week at the Carter Gym. We have plenty of great offerings for you to choose from. If you enjoy the moving, fun, and the group atmosphere, one of our classes is waiting for you. All fitness classes are held in Carter Gym Fitness Studio. They are open to all Students, Faculty & Staff with a current Campbell University ID! See you there!

 Hollis Dameron                                                                                                                                                                             

Class Description: Cardio kickboxing is an action-packed workout that mixes kickboxing combinations, cardio drills, and a ton of fun! This whole body workout is for all levels of fitness. Come kickbox your way through school and work stress, while improving cardiovascular endurance, and strengthening your entire body!

About me: Hello! I grew up in High Point, NC as a competitive gymnast and competed for seven years. My current background as a gymnast made me passionate about health and wellness at an early age. I completed my BS in Biology and Exercise & Sports Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During my undergraduate career, I became a certified ACE Group Fitness Instructor and have taught many classes including Cardio interval training, muscle pump, kickboxing, Zumba, Pilates, Absolution, and Barre.  I have been teaching barre for almost two years now and trained at Recharge Pilates and Barre in Durham, NC. Currently, I am in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program here and Campbell and use that knowledge in my classes to create safe and effective workouts. Insanity LIVE

The moves are easy to follow—but the workout WILL challenge you, change you, and get you in the best shape of your life. So as you're giving it your all, just when you feel like your body is about to max out on certain movements, you're saved by the bell and its time for the next block of moves. Plus, moves can always be modified so you can work up to your best level. 

About me: I am a wife and a mom of 3 small children. I did my undergrad in Anthropology with Health Emphasis from the University of Utah and currently am a second-year med student here at CUSOM. I have been a fitness/health coach for over two years, and Insanity Live certified since summer 2015. I am very passionate about preventive/lifestyle medicine and truly love helping people get in shape by making small, realistic lifestyle changes. I enjoy meeting new friends so please don't hesitate to talk to me before/after class!

Class Description: My Power Pilates class is made to motivate and move your muscles to a place of leaned and toned out happiness, all to the awesomeness of House music. Did I mention we end with Yoga and muffins? What!!! We are going to take this journey of lifestyle together and get you to where you want to be. Empower yourself with Power Pilates; everyone is welcome!

About Me: Hello there! I’m a recent Camel Grad who loves health, coffee, Jesus, and anything outdoors. A few things about me? Hmmm. Vegan, Adventure, People, Exercise, Coffee (did I say that already?) and that about sums up the categories of my life. As my years of teaching Pilates builds up, I enjoy meeting more and more people and finding new ways to connect with everyone! Do not hesitate to talk to me after class and I look forward to meeting all of you hottie totties. Enough about me, I will see you soon!


Class Description:   "Zumba Fitness is a high-intensity workout class with a dance party atmosphere full of motivating Latin beats and today’s hit music. The workout is watch and follow, and uses fast and slow beats for cardio interval training as well as focus on toning the legs, abs, glutes, and arms. Zumba uses Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue, Reggaeton and Hip Hop dance styles that guarantee a great time and workout. Come join the party!

About Me: Hi there my name is Madison! I am a Nursing major here at Campbell, and would describe myself as a Disney enthusiast, fashion/makeup lover, and a music fanatic! As a dancer of 17 years, Zumba is my favorite way to exercise and stay fit! Come to my classes with a huge smile, ready to dance, and prepared to SWEAT! Erica Thomas

About Me: My name is Erica Thomas and I am a Pre-Nursing major at Campbell. I am also active in Campbell’s Pre-Nursing Club and Phi Eta Sigma. Outside of Campbell, I babysit, volunteer as a Children’s Church Assistant and work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Johnston Medical Center. Additional facts about me: I enjoy smiling and laughing, meeting new people, I am dedicated to my studies, a Christian, and someone who loves to exercise and have fun while doing so.  Feel free to contact me for class information or if you just need some help around campus.  I hope to CU in Zumba every Monday!

Sarah Kilian

About Me: "Hi Camels! My name is Sarah Kilian, and I'm a sophomore Biology/Pre-Vet major at CU. I have a passion for animals, and you will rarely see me without a smile! I was a dancer for four years and a cheerleader for 6. I got the "wiggle gene" from my mom, and we both LOVE to dance! Zumba is the perfect class that combines exquisite music and rockin' dance moves to stay fit! Can't wait to #CUatZumba!"


Kalika Depreaux

Class Description: My classes are a blend of different yoga styles taught at a beginner level (with options for advancement).  On Tuesday, the class is more gentle and focused on stretching and Thursday; the class is more upbeat and aerobic.  I welcome you to come find out how yoga can benefit your life by finding a healthy balance between strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. 

About Me: I am a United States Army veteran and currently a Senior Business Administration major at Campbell.  I started practicing yoga in 2010, practicing regularly in 2012 and earned my teaching certification in 2015.  I fell in love with yoga because of how good it makes my body feel and how it has made me a more patient and peaceful person.  I became a yoga teacher so I could share this gift with others!  I am originally from Massachusetts (go Sox!) and my favorite way to spend free time is with my husband and two rescue dogs.

Martha Harmon

Class DescriptionChristian Yoga Class – A Spiritual Practice. The class is open to all (general public and Campbell University students & faculty/staff). I focus on posture, breathing, relaxation, and meditation with God. Those who want to improve their flexibility and strength, relax body and mind should attend my class.


About Me: I am a Hatha Yoga Instructor and received my certification from the NC School of Yoga in Raleigh in 2007. I started practicing yoga for stress relief but found it to be a tremendous blessing physically, mentally and spiritually. I enjoy sharing the benefits of yoga with my students and helping them on a journey to wellness and peace of mind. I graduated from Campbell University with a BA in Mass Communication and a minor in Computer Information Systems. I work full time in marketing for the software industry. I’m also lead the handbell choir and sing in the choir at my church. I enjoy music, reading and spending time with my family, friends, and dogs.

Megan March

Class Description: I like to teach energized classes in the Hatha style yoga with a "gym" atmosphere. Each class will incorporate total body moves but focused on a particular area. Work hard for 50 minutes to RELAX in total peacefulness for the final 10 minutes!
