Gilbert T. Stephenson Business Library

The Location

The Library is located in room 108 of the Lundy-Fetterman Building (199 Davis Street). Room 108 is near the southwest entrance to the building, next door to the Folwell Student Lounge, and across the hall from the academic computing center. The library is within a few steps of the parking spaces provided at the rear of the Lundy Building.

The Name

This library is named in memory of Gilbert Thomas Stephenson, 1885-1972, beloved educator, author, lawyer, banker, and one of the founders of the Trust program at Campbell University. Mr. Stephenson's portrait is visible through the front window of the library. A detailed biographical sketch can be found in the Dictionary of North Carolina Biography edited by William S. Powell, The University of North Carolina Press, Chapel Hill and London. Volume 5 P-S, page 411.

The Collection

The core collection consists of the reference materials formerly housed in Carrie Rich Memorial Library building as the Gilbert T. Stephenson Library on Trust Business. Trust business focuses on the professional practice of estate planning, personal financial management, and investing. The bulk of the print materials are subscription services devoted to updating the large volume of analytical, legal, and regulatory information that is essential to this area of study. The library opened at the Lundy-Fetterman location on September 15, 1999. The collection is being expanded to provide further support to the undergraduate and MBA programs offered by the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business.

The Facility

The Stephenson Business Library provides an exceptional environment for study and enrichment.   An expanse of interior glass at the entrance and natural lighting from the room's signature bay window present an inviting floor space.  Several public computers are available in the lobby area to provide immediate access to the entire Campbell University Library System and the Internet.  The periodicals and reference stacks are centrally located.   Tables and comfortable seating for individuals and small groups are arranged in front of the room's large windows.  Persons needing a more private work area can retreat to one of the twenty carrels that line the walls of the library.  Each carrel is outfitted with its own lighting, electrical outlets, and high-speed computer network connections.
