Director of Campbell University Health Center; Vice-Chair and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine
Dr. Nicholas Pennings is the Director of the Campbell University Health Center, Vice-Chair and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine. Dr. Pennings graduated cum laude form Cornell University with a BA in chemistry and received his Doctor of Osteopathy from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a rotating internship and family medicine residency at Metropolitan Hospital - Parkview Division in Philadelphia.
Dr. Pennings was in family practice in New York for 22 years and began focusing on obesity medicine in 2008.
He is board certified in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine. After 22 years of private practice, Dr. Pennings moved into academic medicine joining the CUSOM faculty. His teaching focus is on nutrition and obesity as well as primary care topics. As Director of the University Health Center, he leads a program – CU Lose Weight - focused on achieving a healthy life style. Dr. Pennings is the president of the Harnett County Medical and Dental Society and serves on the Harnett County Board of Health. In August of 2015, Dr. Pennings was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Obesity Medicine Association.
