Cash Gifts

A gift of cash is the most popular type of gift, and is most often made by check. But you can use your credit card to make a cash gift, too – the easiest way to make a cash gift by credit card is to simply call the person at the telephone number listed at the end of this section.

Features & Benefits of Making Gifts of Cash

Charitable deduction.   For federal income tax purposes, the value of your charitable deduction for a cash gift to Campbell – whether in the form of currency, check, or credit card – is its face value.  A gift by currency or by check is deemed made on the date it is hand-delivered to the University; or if mailed, the date on the postmark on the envelope. A gift by credit card is deemed made on the date the charge is authorized – even though the bill is not paid until a later time.  Pledges are not deductible until paid.

Deductibility.   Cash gifts to Campbell are deductible up to 50% of your federal adjusted gross income for the year – and if your cash gifts exceed that 50%, then you may deduct the excess over the following five years, again up to 50% of your adjusted gross income for each carry-over year.

How it’s done.   Mail your cash gift to:
