Today’s society is inundated with technology. In the last 10 years, the world has seen the technology field exploded with new inventions and improved equipment. The San Diego Supercomputer Center at the University of California released a new study which projects by 2015 people will spend more than 15 hours a day on mobile devices and computers. The need for people to service and maintain technology is great!

Campbell University Fort Bragg/Pope understands the complex needs of the information technology field. To help meet that need we have a wide variety of degrees depending on where you want to go in the IT field and your previous education or military experience. We offer two areas which you can focus in on; Information Technology Security and Information Technology Management.

Information Technology Management
Do you love working on computers and being a leader? Do you have an interest in both business and information technology? Then you should look at our Information Technology Management concentration. This concentration has a mixture of information technology classes and business classes. If you want to not only working with computers and mobile devices, but also manage others who do IT work, then Information Technology Management is the right concentration for you!

Campbell University Fort Bragg/Pope offers two different degree paths in Information Technology Management to help fit your educational and military background!

Bachelor of Science - Information Technology and Security Management
Our first degree is our Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Security Management. If you have little to no experience in IT or have informal training then this is the degree for you! Anyone interested in information technology management can earn our Bachelor of Science in Information Technology & Security Management.

Bachelor of Applied Science - Information Technology and Security Management
We created this degree to help our students with a background in information technology management. Students must meet one of the two qualifying requirements for our Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology and Security Management.

  1. If you have earned an Associate in Applied Science degree in an information technology related filed from a regionally accredited college or regionally accredited technical school, then this is the degree for you! Up to 60 semester hours may be accepted as transfer credit towards you degree with Campbell University Fort Bragg/Pope.
  2. If you have completed a information technology related military training program that is equivalent to (1.) above, then you may also receive up to 60 semester hours as transfer credit towards your degree. Your transfer credits will be based on the recommendations by the American Council on Education (ACE), which are based on your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS, AFSC, NEC).

Students will gain valuable skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Web-based applications (CGI, Java Script, VBScript, DHTML, Active-X, and more!)
  • Database Management
  • Programming Languages (C++, Java and Visual Basic)
  • 9 Information Technology Electives
  • 12 Accounting, Business Administrative or Economics electives

Information Technology Security
Your second concentration choice is information technology security. Do you enjoy working on computers and computer systems? A degree in Information Technology Security will prepare you for the world of hands on computer and mobile device work and cyber security! Campbell University Fort Bragg/Pope offers two degrees in Information Technology Security to fit your individual skill level and background; Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Security and the Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology Security.

Bachelor of Science - Information Technology Security

  • Web-based multimedia design and page development
  • Information Security and Countermeasures
  • System Design and Development
  • Analog and Digital Networking
  • 9 Information Technology Electives
  • 12 Criminal Justice or Homeland Security Electives

Job Outlook
Graduates from Campbell University Fort Bragg/Pope from the Information Technology Security and Management degrees will be prepared to work in a variety of career options in the IT field including; governmental, private and public sectors or our graduates are prepared to continue on to graduate school. The Bureau of Labor Statistics provides a list of jobs that are not only in high demand, but some are also part of the green economy initiative. Students majoring in information technology security or information technology management can see annual salary ranges from $46,000 to more than $84,000!
