Social Work Club The social work student organization is actively involved in a variety of on-campus and off-campus events. The organization has consistently won awards for Best Small Student Organization. Students have made numerous contributions to the University and community through their work in the bone marrow drive, fund-raising activities, letter writing campaigns, clothing drives, contributions of Christmas gifts for patients at state hospitals, volunteer work with the Beacon Rescue Mission, and a host of other projects. Activities include time for fun through social events such as barbecues, picnics, and pizza parties. The Club sponsors guest speakers, including representatives from the graduate schools of social work at East Carolina University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Membership is open to anyone interested in social work. Officers are elected annually and include a President, Vice-President, and Secretary-Treasurer. Meetings are held monthly and are announced on the university calendar, in the campus newspapers, and over campus radio. Phi Alpha Honor Society - Eta Kappa Chapter Phi Alpha is a nationally-recognized social work honor society. Organizational activities include presentations of papers at conferences, service projects, and the sponsoring of guest speakers. National and Department Qualifications for Membership:
