Dr. Constantine G. Kledaras Biographical Sketch Dr. Constantine G. Kledaras is Chair of, and a full professor in, the Social Work Department at Campbell University. He earned his B.A. degree at Duke University, Durham, NC; his MSW degree at UNC-Chapel Hill; and his doctorate at the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC. He is a licensed clinical social worker in North Carolina and has both ACSW and BCD credentials. Prior to his employment at Campbell University in August, 1994, Dr. Kledaras was a tenured full professor in the School of Social Work at East Carolina University. While there, he initially taught at the undergraduate level and then became Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Social Work. Through this position, he was a pioneer in obtaining the MSW program at East Carolina. Dr. Kledaras is active in numerous professional and civic organizations. He holds, and has held, leadership positions in many organizations including the Council on Social Work Education, the Commission on Accreditation, being the Site Visit Chair for CSWE, the NASW-NC Chapter (President), the North Carolina Society for Clinical Social Work, the Mental Health Association in North Carolina (Treasurer), the Pitt County Mental Health Center (President), the North Carolina Association of Social Workers in Mental Health (twice President), KRIKOS, the Continuing Education Training and Advisory Committee for the Division of Public Health (CETAC), and the North Carolina Licensure and Certification Board for Social Work. He currently is an Investigator for the NCSWLCB and has served as Chair of this Board. He is a member of the American Association of State Social Work Boards National Examination Committee. Dr. Kledaras serves on the Editorial Board for the Annals of the Psychotherapy Association and is a reviewer for the Journal on Social Service Research. He has made numerous presentations at the local, state, and national levels as well as having many articles published. His research interests include mental health, aging, policy, and thanatos. Some of his honors include NASW-NC Social Worker of the Year, the Isabelle K. Carter Achievement for Excellence in Mental Health Award, the Outstanding Member Award by the N. C. Association of Social Workers in Mental Health (twice), and being named "Tar Heel of the Week" by the News and Observer. He was the recipient of the first scholarship for doctoral studies in social work given by the N. C. Department of Mental Health. |
