Message from the Director of Teacher Education

The Professional Education faculty appreciate your interest in programs in Professional Education. We offer undergraduate and graduate majors in Elementary Education, and Middle Grades Education, all of which lead to licensure to teach in the public schools of North Carolina. Students may also complete undergraduate licensure requirements to teach secondary English, social studies, mathematics, and biology, as well as K-12 music, physical education, French, and Spanish, and the 7-12 vocational area of Family and Consumer Sciences. Graduate licensure tracks are also available in English, social studies, mathematics, and physical education. Other graduate tracks lead to licensure as a school counselor, community counselor, or as a principal in the public schools.

Professional Education classes offer the advantages of small classes, a healthy blend of theory and practice, with internships providing a wealth of practical experiences in the settings for which the licensure is intended, and a nurturing environment with caring advisors and counselors. All classes encourage the use of technology as a tool for practicing the profession for which the student is preparing, and recognize the value of students mastering the problem solving process as a tool for achieving success in the work world after graduation. All programs boast a 95+% placement rate for graduates.

If you have questions or need additional information, please contact a member of the Professional Education faculty on the second floor of Taylor Hall on the main campus in Buies Creek.
