One of the key benefits of our program is class size, courses in the major average 12-15 students. This facilitates excellent interaction and building close relationships with our majors and faculty members. Our goal is to improve the physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of individuals and families. You will have an excellent selection of courses that will provide a familiarity with every aspect of the family studies field. In addition, the development of skills in communication, decision making, and problem solving are an integral part of our program. Students will come in contact with faculty members from a wide variety of professions. They are experienced both in the classroom and in their chosen professions. Their primary goal is to teach, and at Campbell, the student is their first priority. Course work will include exposure to the latest resources and research in family studies, and surrounding community resources are utilized to enhance the learning environment.
Campbell sponsors two major student organizations. The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences has a student chapter open to all majors in the department. In addition, the National Association for the Education of Young Children has a chapter called the Campbell University Students for the Education of Young Children. These organizations will give you the opportunity to learn first hand about related careers, make contacts at the local, state and national levels, and be involved in various university and community activities.
