Purpose of Convocation

The definition of “Convocation” is a gathering.  The College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (CPHS) at Campbell University begins each new academic year with a convocation ceremony to gather all students together, to welcome new and returning students and to honor those students who will be graduating at the end of the academic year. 

Attendance

This year’s convocation ceremony will be on Friday, August 24, at 10:30 a.m. in Turner Auditorium, D. Rich Hall.  Graduate classes for that day are cancelled to allow all graduate students to attend. Attendance by card swipe will be required  (students need to bring ID cards) and students are asked to inform their Department if they are unable to attend, as the names of students not in attendance will be provided to the Department Chairs and the Admissions’ Office.

Class of 2013

All CPHS Master’s and PharmD students who are expected to graduate in May, 2013, will take part in the processional and recessional along with faculty. Students should plan to wear business dress.  Meet at the location shown below at 9:45 a.m. and the faculty representative will escort you to Turner Auditorium. Students are asked to not bring book bags due to space constraints. Laptops and electronic tablet devices are not allowed as this is a formal ceremony.

Class of 2013 (MPAP), Classes of 2014, 2015, and 2016, and Dual Degree Students

Students will be seated in the auditorium according to their year and program.  Faculty representatives will meet the class in the location shown below at 9:45 a.m. and will escort them to Turner Auditorium. Students are asked to not bring book bags due to space constraints. Laptops and electronic tablet devices are not allowed as this is a formal ceremony.

Back to School BBQ

Following the convocation ceremony, the Back to School BBQ will be held in John W. Pope Convocation Center beginning at 12:00 noon.  All CPHS students and faculty are invited for lunch.
