Timothy Hinson recently received the 2013 Linda B. Ford Scholarship while pursuing his Asthma Educator Certificate (AE-C) from the National Asthma Educator Certification Board. The scholarship, which has extensive application requirements, is designed to help cover the cost of the certificate examination. The scholarship was awarded to only five individuals this year.
“Dr. Hinson’s efforts in obtaining this formal asthma educator certification will be a great addition to our overall efforts to take care of our own here at Campbell University,” said COL Bill Pickard, chair of the department of clinical research at the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.
Hinson is a 1992 graduate of the Campbell University School of Pharmacy. He returned to Buies Creek in 2012 to join the faculty at the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and currently serves as an associate professor of clinical research. Hinson splits his time between teaching and providing pharmacy-related services in the Campbell University Health Center.
“My reason for pursuing the AE-C was to provide optimal asthma care to the people in our local community who come to the Health Center for treatment,” Hinson said. “Having the AE-C allows me to be a better health care provider, a better instructor for students learning how to properly care for patients with asthma, and to seek opportunities to conduct clinical research in patients with asthma.”
