Pharmacy student-athlete receives national academic honors

Campbell University starting placekicker and second-year pharmacy student Sam Eberwein has been named to the FCS Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star team and the College Sports Journal FCS All-Academic squads.

Eberwein and his teammate Kurt Odom are two of just 54 in the nation (five in the Pioneer Football League) to receive FCS All-Star status. The two join Jordan Cramer (fullback, 2011) as the only other Camels to make the list in the program's five seasons.

New campus pharmacy expands student training opportunities

Campbell University opened a pharmacy this week inside the Health Center on campus. Developed to service the Campbell community, the new pharmacy will provide an added benefit of educational training for the University’s pharmacy students.

As the second semester starts, the Health Center will continue to provide care to students, and for the first time, offer services to faculty and staff which include medications and clinical services at the pharmacy.

During the development stage, Campbell’s Doctor of Pharmacy program took the reins on coordinating the new pharmacy, recognizing the great training opportunities it would offer students.

Muzyk Receives Prestigious Pharmacy Award

Andrew Muzyk, PharmD, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, recently received the 2012 Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award from the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists.

The award is sponsored by Pharmacists Mutual Companies and presented annually at NCAP’s Annual Convention to a pharmacist who has practiced less than ten years and participated in state and national associations, professional groups and in community service.

Waters honored with Distinguished Alumni Award

Wesley "Trey" Waters III, PharmD ’02, was one of five alumni to receive Campbell University’s Distinguished Alumni Award during homecoming weekend on Oct. 19. In just 10 years since leaving Buies Creek, Waters has become owner or partner of six pharmacies in North and South Carolina.

Pharmacy missions fund named in honor of retired chair

A new fund that will support pharmacy students on medical mission trips was recently created in honor of retired Pharmacy Practice Chair Larry Swanson, PharmD, at Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.
