Pharmacy graduate to receive Kappa Epsilon/Merck Vanguard Award

LeAnne Davidson Kennedy, 1993 PharmD graduate from Campbell University, will receive the 2012 Kappa Epsilon/Merck Vanguard Leadership Award on March 10.
The presentation will take place at the Kappa Epsilon reception, in conjunction with the American Pharmacists Association’s Pharmacy Exposition in New Orleans.
Kennedy is the clinical specialist for inpatient hematology and oncology at Wake Forest Baptist Health (WFBH) in Winston-Salem, NC. In 1993 she received her doctor of pharmacy degree from Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, followed by a pharmacy practice residency at WFBH. She presently is director of the PGY2 oncology residency.
Vice President Maddox appointed to NC Institute of Medicine Board

Ronald Maddox, PharmD, vice president of health programs at Campbell University, has been appointed to serve on the North Carolina Institute of Medicine's board of directors.
Maddox will join 17 other board members from leading companies in government, higher education, business and health care. Board members help guide the direction of the Institute, whose two-fold mission is to improve the delivery of health care throughout the state and serve as an advisory arm for the governor, general assembly, and state government in regard to the health care of citizens in North Carolina.
Hall receives national research award

Julie Hall, PhD, assistant professor of pharmaceutical sciences, recently received the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy’s New Investigator Award. The award provides $10,000 as start-up funding for new pharmacy faculty’s research programs.
This year, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) received nearly 150 submissions for the award. On average, 12 to 18 grants are awarded annually in eight different academic areas. Hall received the award for the biological sciences category in which 43 applications were received.
CPHS hosts PharmD students from South Korea

A group of second-year pharmacy students from Keimyung University in Taegu, South Korea, visited Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences on January 16.
Ten students, along with their professor, Dr. Chun, attended information sessions to learn more about the College’s master of science programs in clinical research, pharmaceutical sciences and public health, as well as pharmacy residency programs.
Campbell finishes in top ten at 2011 ASHP National Clinical Skills Competition

The pharmacy student team from Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences finished in the top ten at the 2011 American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ (ASHP) 16th National Clinical Skills Competition on December 4, 2011 in New Orleans.
