Faculty members author comprehensive book on drug development

When searching for teaching resources, Campbell University faculty members Antoine Al-Achi, Mali Gupta, and William Stagner saw a reoccurring need for a book that provided a comprehensive approach to the pharmaceutical industry. The three started discussing this issue, and before long, a new book project was underway.

Campbell trustees approve nursing degree program

The Campbell University Board of Trustees approved the development of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree as its spring meeting. The proposed start date of the program is fall 2014, subject to approval of the N.C. Board of Nursing, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

It will be the fifth major health sciences program launched or announced by Campbell in the last three years. The Physician Assistant program welcomed its first class in 2011, the Master of Public Health program was launched in the fall of 2012, the School of Osteopathic Medicine will open and house its first class of 150 students this fall, and the anticipated Doctor of Physical Therapy program is projected to begin in January 2014.

Pharmacy student selected for summer fellowship program

Sarai Ibrahim, 2016 PharmD/MS in Clinical Research dual degree student, was one of ten post-graduate students selected to participate in the James A. Ferguson Emerging Infectious Disease Fellowship Program.

The nine-week program is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and focuses on infectious diseases, urban health issues, research design, and other public health related topics.

Vice President of Novant Health to deliver graduation address

Novant Health Corporate Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer Michael Nnadi will deliver Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences’ commencement address. Graduation will begin at 3 p.m. on Fri., May 10 at the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center.

Dr. Nnadi arrived at Novant Health in 2006 quickly moving from regional to senior pharmacy director in just two years. He was promoted to his current position in 2009, where he is responsible for pharmacy services at Novant’s 13 hospitals.

Laurinburg pharmacist and Campbell grad James Edward "Ed" Herring, Jr., received the 2013 M. Keith Fearing, Jr., Community Pharmacy Practice Award from Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences on April 5.
