MS in Clinical Research

MS in Clinical Research

Preparing graduates for leadership positions within clinical research to provide critical results that have a direct impact on patients’ well-being.

The following requirements and standards are designed to ensure scholastic and professional success in the College’s MCSR degree program. Applications for admission to the MSCR degree program are evaluated by the faculty of the Department of Clinical Research. Acceptance into the graduate program is based on the overall record and ability of the applicant. Applicants failing to meet the required minimum grade point average (GPA) or the required minimum Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score may be considered for admission provided their record is indicative of exceptional ability.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with an acceptable GPA of approximately 3.0
  • GRE/PCAT/MCAT Scores
  • TOEFL >550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based)

Prerequisites

  • Anatomy & Physiology (4 hours)
  • Statistics (3 hours)
  • Science Courses (12 hours including 2 courses labs)

Application Process

  1. Complete application with required $50 fee
  2. Submit all official college transcripts
  3. Submit GRE and TOEFL scores (if applicable)
  4. Submit one letter of recommendation

Policies

  1. Students who meet the GPA and GRE requirement, but lack other prerequisites may receive provisional acceptance, dependent on applicants completing their prerequisites. Students may enroll in MSCR courses before they have completed all program prerequisites, but they must complete all prerequisites before they receive full acceptance into the program.
  2. Students falling below the GPA requirement are expected to have a minimum combined GRE score of 1000 verbal and math, and a 4.0 analytical writing. Furthermore, these students receive provisional acceptance. They will be considered for full acceptance into the program after achieving a GPA greater than 3.0 in the first nine credit hours of course work in the program.
  3. Those who have earned a PhD, MD, or PharmD (terminal doctoral degree listed by NIH) at an accredited institution in the United States are not required to submit a GRE or other test scores.
  4. Late applicants can receive approval to register for courses for the current semester if they:
    1. Complete application with required $50 fee
    2. Submit all official college transcripts
    3. Appear to meet the criteria for provisional acceptance

Before taking any courses in subsequent semesters, these students are expected to complete their application and receive provisional acceptance.

  5. Students not seeking a degree can receive approval to register for courses if they:

    1. Complete online application with required $50 fee
    2. Submit official college transcripts
    3. Submit one letter of recommendation
    4. Receive approval from the MSCR admissions committee

Note: A maximum of 4 credit hours of graduate level courses numbered 500 or higher may be taken before acceptance. In cases where demand for a class exceeds the enrollment capacity, degree-seeking students will have priority over students not seeking a degree. Non-degree seeking students can only register during the first week of classes and may not pre-register for courses.

  6. Students taking a leave of absence of greater than one semester must notify their advisor and department chairman in writing. Depending on the circumstance, the chairman will determine the length of the granted leave of absence, not to exceed two semesters.
Note: Requests for deferment, use of similar courses, or use of work experience must be obtained from the department chair.

International Applicants

The MSCR program does not currently accept international applicants because it is located at Campbell University’s RTP location, which is not certified for international students.
