On Spring (farewell) in 3 parts

I.

spring came

gently

as a girl

might brush a

stray hair

back over

her shoulder

II.

Fall was

conquered

as love

conquers sorrow-

not

perceptibly-

not without regret,

not permanently

(no one pretends

even)

But only

Because spring

Must come

           And hence

Be conquered

III.

Spring makes

a mockery

of mediocrity though

it,

too,

lies between two extremes.
