The Harnett County Partnership for Children (HCPC) is hosting a 5K run/walk November 10, 2012 in support of the first 2,000 days of a child’s life. The event will be held at the track behind the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center at Campbell University. The 5K is designed to build awareness and support for early education in North Carolina. There are only 2,000 days between the day a child is born and when that child enters kindergarten. Experiences during these 2,000 days have a lasting impact on later learning, health and success.
Race time begins at 10 a.m. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event or you can register online at www.harnettsmartstart.org or www.runtheeast.com. The early registration fee is $25 which includes a t-shirt and post-race food. After November 1st and the day of the event, the cost to register is $30. There will also be a one mile fun run for kids at 9:30 a.m. The cost of the fun run is $10.
All proceeds from the event will support programs funded by HCPC that are designed to improve the quality of child care, make child care more affordable and accessible, provide access to health services and offer family support.
HCPC is a non-profit organization with the goal of ensuring that young children enter school healthy and ready to succeed. For more information about this event or HCPC, please contact Amy Hoyes at 910-893-2344 or firstname.lastname@example.org
