The 39th Resident Session of The Southeastern Trust School, sponsored by Campbell University in association with the Trust Education Foundation, will be held at Campbell University, Buies Creek, North Carolina, June 6-13, 2008.

OBJECTIVE:
The Southeastern Trust School is designed to meet the professional needs of both new fiduciary personnel and those experienced in a particular phase of financial services who desire to expand their knowledge of the trust business.  This professional trust education program offers a one-week intensive resident study period of selected trust topics.

 

ELIGIBILITY:
Employees of banks, trust companies, trust divisions, supervisory agencies, accountants, attorneys, brokers, CFP®*'s and CFA's are eligible for admission to the School. To be considered, the application of each student must be approved by an appropriate supervisor of his or her organization. A Committee on Admissions of the Board of Directors of the Trust Education Foundation is charged with the duty of judging the eligibility and qualification of all applicants.

 

 

CLASSES:
Students should plan to arrive on the campus by 5:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon, June 6. Classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, June 7, and continue through graduation, Friday morning, June 13. The morning and afternoon sessions are divided into four class periods of 55 minutes each. In addition, evenings are used for instruction, for group discussion, and for problem solving. There are 40 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of workshops.

ATTENDANCE:
Attendance at all sessions (including graduation) is required. Students who fail to attend classroom and workshop sessions without a prior excuse will not be awarded a certificate.

 

CREDITS:
A certificate is issued jointly by The Southeastern Trust School and Campbell University to each student satisfactorily completing the school requirements. Forty hours of CTFA credit are available through the ICB to graduates of the school. This program meets the requirements of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. for 46 continuing education hours. Students holding CISP; CRSP; CFIRS; CFSA; NASD Series 6, 7, or 63; CPA's seeking CPE hours; or Attorneys seeking CLE hours are encouraged, upon graduation, to submit the Southeastern Trust School to the appropriate accrediting body for continuing education credit. The Director will provide necessary documentation as requested by the student.

 

 

ORIENTATION:
An orientation session will be held on Friday evening, June 6, 2008. This program begins with dinner in the Alumni Room of Marshbanks Dining Hall.

 

LOCATION:
The Campbell University campus in Buies Creek, North Carolina is located 45 miles south of Raleigh. Campbell offers a quiet and pleasant atmosphere for both study and recreation. All trust school facilities, including sleeping quarters, are air-conditioned.

If you are driving, Buies Creek is located on Highway 421 four miles east of its intersection with Highway 401.  Please click on the Directions/Map link above to view directions.

If you plan to fly, make arrangements to arrive at the Raleigh/Durham International Airport (RDU). A limited number of pickups will be made for those who notify Jimmy Witherspoon by May 28 at the address below.

 

ACCOMMODATIONS:
All students will reside in the recently opened state of the art New Apartment Building, in assigned one-to-a-room facilities.  Two students (unless requested otherwise) will share a suite.  Each suite includes a full and a one-half bathroom.

 

MEALS:
On Saturday, June 7, and on Tuesday, June 10, the class will depart by chartered bus for dinner off campus. All other meals will be served in the Alumni Room of Marshbanks Dining Hall. The cost of all meals is covered in the enrollment fee.

 

DRESS:
Informal dress will be the rule during the session. Casual clothes will be entirely appropriate for regular classroom periods.

 

RECREATION:
Facilities for golf, tennis, softball, swimming, fishing and jogging are available. Students should bring their own equipment and clothing.
