“Fiduciary Practices”

 

This is a program that covers the basics of Fiduciary Law.  It is meant for new Trust Officer, Trust Support Specialist, Specialized Trust Personnel, Attorneys, CPA’s and Financial Planners.  At the end of the day, you will have an overall understanding of the basics of the fiduciary business.  The program is divided into 4 sections:

 

Background of Fiduciary Law

 

This section lasts 30 minutes and goes over Fiduciary Responsibility, how trusts came to be created and what the business has become today. It discusses documents, and how to accept an account.

CTFA-Fiduciary and Trust Activities

 

Definition of the Fiduciary Relationship

 

This section lasts 3 hours and discusses the types of accounts in the fiduciary area as well as their taxability.  It covers the nature and characteristics of account relationships including estates, trusts under will, revocable trusts, guardianships, charitable accounts, agencies and IRA’s.

This section lasts 2 hours and discusses Fiduciary Responsibilities as it relates to Duties and Powers of the Trustee the liability involved if these duties and powers are not followed.

Activities Creating Fiduciary Liability

 

This section lasts 2 hours and discusses litigious issues in today’s fiduciary world involving environmental matters, closely held business interests, investments and discretionary matters.
