Dr. Donna Woolard continues to expand her expertise in the professional preparation of physical education teachers. She serves as a consultant to the Educational Testing Service in its development of the Praxis II Physical Education Exams. Dr. Woolard has teamed with the department’s former chair, Dr. William Freeman, to make several national presentations at the Association for Kinesiology and Physical Education in Higher Education's national conference. Dr. Freeman and Dr. Woolard continue their collaboration conducting and presenting research into the nation's nomenclature of departments and programs in physical education, exercise science, and kinesiology.
Dr. Woolard is an active member of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) and the North Carolina Alliance for Athletics, Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NCAAHPERD). In fact, Dr. Woolard has served on the Executive Board of NCAAHPERD for more than a dozen years, earning the Alliance’s Service Award in 2003, serving as President of NCAAHPERD in 2007, and ultimate rewarded with the Alliance’s highest honor, the Honor Award in 2009.
Ms. Catherine Simonson is active in the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and the North Carolina Athletic Trainers' Association (NCATA) and serves as a peer reviewer for the NATA Educational Council.
Dr. Jennifer Bunn is a successful researcher and author with articles in respected journals such as Respiratory Care and Nutrition Journal. As an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), last spring she made presentations at both the Southeast Regional and national ACSM conferences.
