My First Snow Day in the Creek #CUsnowday

Enjoying my first snow day at Campbell University

As I sat in my first class of the day on January 28, all I could think about was the possibility of snow. With high hopes that the blizzard would hit Buies Creek, I began to wish that classes might get canceled for one day. As the day went on, we received an email saying classes after 2:00 p.m. would be canceled due to the possibility of snow. Around 5:00 p.m. or so, the first little flurries started to fall. The big snowfall was headed to the Creek, which meant classes on Wednesday were canceled! I was going to have my first snow day at Campbell after all.

As the night progressed and the snow began to cover the ground, we decided to take a walk around campus. The snow continued to come down and the temperature was dropping, so we headed over to a friend’s apartment to warm up and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate and a movie.  Around midnight, there was a campus-wide snowball fight, and everyone was out having a good time. After topping our evening off with some snow cream, we called it a night and headed in to get some sleep. The next morning I took advantage of not having classes and slept in, which was amazing. When we got up the next morning, we went for a walk around campus and took a ton of pictures. Later that afternoon, a group of us went over to Keith Hills, our local golf course, to do some sledding. We improvised and used the lids to storage containers as sleds.

To say the least, our snow day was full of adventures, from the campus-wide snowball fight at midnight, to sledding at Keith Hills. I had a wonderful time with my friends! I am so thankful I had the opportunity to experience my first snow day at Campbell University as a graduating senior. Experiencing the snow day surrounded by friends allowed me to create memories I will cherish for a lifetime.

My Story

I am a senior majoring in marketing with a minor in management. I am from the small town of Princeton, North Carolina, where everybody knows everybody. Four years ago, I made the decision to further my education at Campbell University. My journey here has been nothing but amazing!

Getting involved on campus is a way of life at Campbell. I currently work as a student ambassador in Undergraduate Admissions and as a student mentor in the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. Aside from work, you will catch me hanging out with friends and playing intramural sports such as flag football, softball, volleyball, and corn hole. (Our intramural sports range from intramural chess, to even battleship in the swimming pool.) I also am involved with campus ministry groups, such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). There is so much going on around campus that it is often hard to pick and choose what to attend and how to manage your time.
