Homeschool F.A.Q.
Is Campbell a Christian college?
Campbell University is an accredited, Christian university affiliated with the Baptist tradition. We welcome students from all Christian traditions as well as students of other faiths to join our campus community.
Are homeschooled students eligible for scholarships?
Homeschooled students have the same opportunities for academic scholarships and grants as all of our students.
Do homeschooled students need to obtain their GED prior to coming to Campbell?
No. Under North Carolina homeschooling laws, a home school is the same as a private school.
Does Campbell accept dual-enrollment, AP, or CLEP credits?
Students can transfer up to 64 credits from either a community college, AP, CLEP, or a combination of all three. It is suggested that families check with the community college to make sure the classes are eligible for transfer. You can also check our PDF chart of course equivalencies »
Please be aware that students need to take the AP exam, in order for the class to be given AP credit. If the exam was not taken, or if the student did not receive a score of a 3 or better, the class should be listed and weighted as an honors class.
Do homeschoolers have to take any additional tests in order to be admitted to Campbell?
Homeschoolers need to take the SAT or ACT, just like regular students. We do not require SAT-II subject tests, end-of-grade exams, or any additional tests.
Does Campbell accept students who are younger than the traditional age?
Homeschooled students have been accepted who graduated a year or two early. In these cases, the student would need to be interviewed prior to acceptance.
Does Campbell have co-ed dorms?
There are separate resident halls for males and females, with the exception of Barker Hall, which is for upper- classmen (separated by floor). There are separate resident halls for all freshmen.
Can prospective students stay overnight in the dorms?
If this request is made in advance and the visit does not interfere with our exam schedule, then this may be possible (Mon.-Thurs. only). We would try to house current homeschooled students with a former homeschooler, but there are no guarantees.
Is there a curfew for Campbell students?
No, we consider our students to be adults who are responsible for their own schedules and choices. They do need to abide by Campbell rules and our code of conduct, however.
